THE POWER OF PRAYER!

James 5v16.   The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective!

Prayer avails much.   It avails much with God, and has availed much in the history of His Church meaning the people of God.   Prayer is the one great power that the church can exercise in securing the working of God’s omnipresence in the World.

“The prayer of a righteous man or woman is powerful and effective “ (James 5v16). This is a person who wears the righteousness of Christ, not only as a garment covering him but also as a power inspiring him to live as a new man “created in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4v24).   When Christ gave His great promises regarding prayer, it was to those who keep His Commands.

It is only when the righteous man stirs himself and rouses his whole being to take hold of God that his prayer avails much.   Jacob wrestled with God and said, “I will not let you go” (Genesis 32v26).   And through her constant pleading, the importunate widow in the parable gave the judge no rest (see Luke 18v1-8).   This is proof that fervent prayer avails much.

Prayer is effective when many righteous people pray together.   When two agree, there is the promise of an answer.   How much more when hundreds and thousands uniteHis mighty power on behalf of His people.

Let us join those who have united themselves we call upon God for the mighty power of His Holy Spirit in His Church.   God will answer the prayer of the righteous!
